ABOUT US:
We hand-print unique clothing for young and/or interesting people. We totally get T-shirt freaks.
The Monstrosity label was founded by West (AKA Amanda West), a young screenprinter and painter from Sydney. Even as a kid, she longed to be a t-shirt and fashion designer, drawing up draft designs and labels with her dad.
In 2008 she began silkscreening hand-printed t-shirts with a difference for friends and herself, eventually opening an online store and an art studio in Woolloomooloo.
All of her t-shirts and hoodies are SIGNED and HAND-NUMBERED inside the collar, making them very collectable and unique. No two are identical.
West has been exhibited in over 30 exhibitions, and has published a book of her art (Titled: You Can Get a Cream For That). She holds a Bachelor of Education and Advanced Diploma Art and Design.
She has been awarded the Peter Wright Memorial Prize for Printmaking, has work in various private collections and that of the ACT Government, and is also a co-founder of Monstrosity Gallery, Sydney, the gallery which also represents her work.
Occasionally West shares her skills and expertise in her own screenprinting workshops in Sydney. They teach you to create single hand-cut stencil screenprints with waterbased, ecofriendly inks.
